From Chelsea Kiely of Gilded Aisle:
"As a wedding planner, there are few things I love more than dreaming up an editorial that lets creativity truly take center stage. This styled shoot at Chicago Illuminating Company was all about celebrating intentional design—layering textures, fashion-forward styling, immersive florals, thoughtful details, and that effortlessly chic “Chicago cool” energy the venue naturally brings."
"From the beginning, my vision was to create a look that felt luxurious, trend-forward, and editorial, while still feeling warm, romantic, and attainable for real couples. Every element was chosen with meaning—from the fabrics and furniture selections to the personalized stationery, curated fashion, lighting, and floral design. It was all about storytelling through style and creating an experience that feels as beautiful as it looks."
"Instead of sticking to neutrals, we embraced rich color balanced with a strong focus on lush, vibrant green tones. The design leaned into natural vibrancy with intentional pops of color, layered textures, and fresh movement that allowed the florals and décor to truly make a statement. The result was a setting that felt modern yet romantic, bold yet thoughtfully refined—exactly the kind of design aesthetic we love seeing more of today."
"And of course, none of this would have been possible without an incredible team of creative partners who brought every detail to life so flawlessly."
From Kate from Something White Styling:
At the Chicago Illuminating Company, we leaned into an eclectic flora story—romantic, layered, and just a touch unexpected. Against the venue’s industrial bones, the styling played with contrast: timeless silhouettes softened by texture, sparkle, and intentional pops of chartreuse woven through the accessories.
For the ceremony, the bride wore a classic Mariana Hardwick gown, elevated with an embellished veil that felt both heirloom and editorial. As the evening unfolded, she shifted into a full lace Seline Meisler corset and skirt set for dinner, finished with gloves for a fashion-forward nod. The night ended in pure magic: a fully beaded Wiederhoeft slip dress, catching every glimmer of light and designed to truly shine on the dance floor.
Kelly Thompson from Fleur Inc:
"The flowers for this Gucci Flora inspired shoot were created with a soft, garden-inspired atmosphere in mind. The overall goal was lush, natural, and full of movement. Clusters of hydrangea in muted greens and blush tones set the foundation, with allium, roses, and seasonal blooms adding pops of color and texture. Airy branches from my own garden and flowing ferns give the arrangements an effortless, just-grown feel."
"At the reception table, the florals continue in a layered, abundant style. Warm apricots, soft mauves, and fresh greens spill forward, surrounding the couple in a cozy glow of candlelight. The result is a welcoming, romantic floral world that feels both elevated and easy, like stepping into a blooming garden."
I had the most magical time photographing Catherine and Joey’s September wedding at Gibson Island Club, on Gibson Island, Maryland. Catherine was very excited to have an outdoor ceremony at The Point but the weather had another idea. Pam from Bailey Weddings, did a fabulous job moving the ceremony indoors and everything worked out so beautifully!
Make sure to check out their wedding on Wedding Sparrow!
