Love blooms When A Virginia Couple Weds in a Romantic Garden on the St. Michael’s, Maryland waterfront
For several years, Kathryn and Ryan lived minutes apart from each other in Arlington, Virginia but their paths never crossed. That is, until one enchanted evening in the fall of 2013, they exchanged glances across a crowded room at a local night spot.
Kathryn, an attorney, and Ryan, owner of a landscaping business and a youth lacrosse coach, fell in love. Two rescue dogs and a year and a day later, Ryan invited family members to watch one of his teams play a match. All were sworn to secrecy about Ryan’s plan to propose to Kathryn afterwards. As luck would have it, the team won the game. Ryan then brought his kids together in a huddle and told them one of the most important moments of his and his future wife’s life together was about to happen with their help. If they messed up, it would “cost them sprints at the next practice.”
Thinking the kids were posing for a team photo, Kathryn became speechless when all of a sudden she noticed the young boys were holding up letters that spelled out “Will you marry me?” and Ryan on bended knee before her. After she said “yes” and put on her sunglasses to cover her tears, family members, the team players and those who had come to watch the game cheered from the stands.
Ten months later, Kathryn and Ryan married at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland in front of family and close friends.
Design Inspiration:
- The formal gardens of old manor homes and the Inn’s very own “knot” garden.
- Laura Ashley botanical prints and Dutch Masters floral still lifes.
- Color palette: blush, champagne, ivory, medium to rich berry pink tones
ROMANTIC. SOPHISTICATED. WHIMSICAL.
A romantic waterfront ceremony in tones of champagne, blush, ivory and gold that incorporates boxwood and ivy structures, billowing sheer fabric and elegant residential furniture will progress into a Summer garden cocktail party in the tree grove, which will then meander into a formal garden-inspired dinner and dancing reception featuring unique hedge seating and lush blossoms in blush to berry tones. Custom watercolor illustrations by Inslee by Design for the bespoke invitation suite will also make unique appearances in the day-of printed materials.
