Greenbrier Resort Wedding
Featured in The Knot!
What is better than a holiday weekend wedding? A four day holiday weekend celebration at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV - also known as America's Resort! The Greenbrier holds a special place in the bride, Calyn, and her family's heart - spending Christmas at the resort year after year with her grandmother and mother's family. When Brian proposed, the couple explored venues in the Miami, FL area but nothing felt right, until they thought of the Greenbrier and their time spent with family. Hoping to share the magic with their family and friends, Calyn and Brian made the decision to host 215 guests from all over the world for a four day celebration this past July. Having never been to the property in the warmer, summer months, Calyn and her family were excited to experience the property in a new light with their guests. The couple kicked off the weekend with a Fourth of July BBQ at Howard's Creek Lodge - complete with festive sangria, a full all-American barbecue spread, an epic dance party and topping off the night with fireworks to celebrate the holiday!
On Friday, Brian and his groomsmen spend the morning at the sports lodge - skeet shooting - while Calyn & her Bridesmaids enjoyed a bridal luncheon at Sam Sneed's at the Greenbrier Clubhouse. The evening started with an intimate dinner in the North Parlor [famous for it's Grace Kelly portrait and love clock - where guests from decades past have tucked notes for their current loves and hopes for future loves] before moving into the Cameo Ballroom for 'Spirits & Sweets' with all their guests. The weekend was not only a wedding celebration, but also Calyn's birthday - so the party ended with a birthday cake and singing for the bride!
For the wedding design, the couple worked with Cheers Darling Events and Emily Baird Designs to create a Dorothy Draper-inspired floral print, with a modern touch, that was seen through the paper design and decor on the wedding day. Leaning into the pattern play of the resort, Design Foundry created custom valance covers for the cocktail hour space using the new pattern. The Colonial Ballroom received a full transformation, bringing a little glam to the resort - which mirrored chairs, white and ivory blooms [William Thomas Florals], custom band backdrop and dance floor. The guests enjoyed a four course meal, followed by a dance party and finishing up the night in the Casino late night snacks and after party!
